May 27, 2014 • G+ Hangout: The Affordable Care Act and YOU, Women’s Health Edition

Women ACA Hangout Promo

NOTE: This is the first in a series of Google Plus hangouts titled: “THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT AND YOU,” to be held between May and November 2014. To view the full schedule of events, click here.

Despite a rocky start for the site, a sea of misinformation and unwavering opposition by some, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) has gone on to a successful implementation. And when it comes to women’s healthcare needs, this piece of legislation continues to be hailed as the single greatest advance in a generation. It’s no wonder: In addition to expanding benefits and allowing greater access to health insurance, the ACA or Obamacare has granted women unprecedented control over their health needs. Yet, according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation survey, many women, and Latinas in particular, still are not getting the full picture when it comes to understanding these benefits and healthcare in general.

This coming Tuesday, May 27, 2014, I’ll be hanging out on G+ with three of the women who have been leading Latino engagement in the rollout and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. They will answer YOUR women health and ACA-related questions, so make sure to submit them below, or submit them via Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus or email!

Whether you’re a woman with questions about health insurance or know one who does, you can’t miss this!

GUESTS:
– Mayra Alvarez, Director of Public Health Policy in the Office of Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
– Vanessa Gonzalez-Plummoff, Director of Latino Leadership and Engagement at Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA)
– Ann Marie Benitez, Director of Government Relations and Public Affairs at the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health (NILRH)

Make sure to send in your questions, and please watch and share with the women in your life! And don’t worry if you don’t have a G+ account, you can always watch it on YouTube, just click below😉
